David is a physiotherapist who has worked for the past 7 years at Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC). Over this time he has gained extensive experience working with families supporting children and adults living with intellectual and physical disabilities. David focuses on providing practical, effective and sustainable therapy that leads to independence and meaningful participation.
David is passionate about improving physical activity for people with intellectual disabilities. Over the past several years at ADHC he developed and ran a ‘learn to ride’ bike riding clinic for children with disabilities. He has also utilised active video gaming for children and adults using the Xbox Kinect. David is also a strong supporter of the active support approach in group homes and has helped numerous group homes implement this with residents. David specialises in the prescription, setup and training of both simple and complex mobility equipment (standing frames, walking frames).
David has close relationships with the Schools for Specific Purposes (SSPs) in the St George and Sutherland area, as well as many of the local day programs.
Prior to working at ADHC, David spent 5 years working throughout Sutherland Hospital, solidifying his acute and rehabilitation physiotherapy skills.
